HELLO.
I'M VALERIA
About me
The moment I felt in love with production goes back to over a decade ago when I worked as a production assistant for the Italian X Factor. From there, I learnt how to edit, how to prep live shows, how to stage a set, how to pitch my own stories, how to assign stories to reporters, how to count live and pre-taped shows in multiple languages (some of those that I actually do not even speak), and finally how to direct and produce them.
That's why I describe myself as a Media Production Expert.
Born and raised in Italy, I spent the past 9 years in Canada, and I currently live in Northern California.
My work
A selection of projects and editorials I've been involved with:
Producer
My biggest project so far: 56 episodes of a cooking show. I coordinated a crew of 10, including cameras and jib, audio, video and mobile control center operators. While shooting I was also acting as floor director, coaching our multiple guests and finally I coordinated the post-production, from overlooking the editing, including graphics, to delivering the final product.
Producer & Senior Writer
(and occasionally hosting)
OMNI News Italian Edition, the only Canadian national newscast in Italian airing daily across the country, has been my home for more than 4 years. I was part of the launch and re-branding of the show back in 2016 and over the years we managed to implement our viewership both on cable and on social media.
Field Producer
As Canada turned 150 we took a look at ten different people's stories on why they chose to leave their own country and move to Canada.
Production Assistant
Working at a multicultural tv station gave me the opportunity to take part of many projects in different languages. One of these, the Chinese New Year Special
Production Assistant
I had the pleasure to be part of production team of one of CityTV's biggest project, the annual live from the Grammy's Red Carpet.
Entertainment Reporter
As I say in my script, this is a story about "stepping out of your comfort zone...", not only for the main character of the movie, but also for myself reporting in English. This is part of my interview with Deanna Marsigliese, Character Art Director of "Luca"
Community Reporter
Being a journalist in ethnic media means highlight people from your community. This is an example of an Italian-Canadian young professional who represented Canada at the G20.
Sport Reporter
As a sport fan, it was a pleasure to interview the only Italian NBA champion Marco Belinelli
Education
University of Verona
Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business 2008-2012
